Pot Roast InstaBomb Questions
Preparation and Cooking Techniques
How should I season my roast?
Normally, seasoning a roast requires combining oils with a blend of herbs and spices such as rosemary, garlic, basil, salt, thyme, and pepper. This mixture is then allowed to sit before being applied to the roast to ensure the flavors are well absorbed, creating a rich, aromatic base that enhances the meat during cooking.
However, when using InstaBomb Pot Roast, this process becomes much more streamlined and efficient. InstaBomb includes a carefully crafted blend of spices and herbs tailored specifically for pot roasts. Of the 17 all-natural ingredients in the Pot Roast InstaBomb, brown sugar adds a touch of sweetness, dried rosemary, granulated garlic, and ground black pepper for depth, as well as other spices that complement the natural flavors of the meat perfectly.
The pre-measured spices distribute evenly and infuse the roast as it cooks, ensuring that every slice is deliciously seasoned without the need for preliminary mixing or marinating. This method saves time and guarantees a flavorful, tender pot roast with minimal effort, making it ideal for busy cooks looking to serve up a gourmet-quality meal.
What is the most flavorful or best cut of meat for pot roast?
Boneless beef chuck roast is widely regarded as the best cut for pot roast due to its rich marbling and connective tissue. When slow-cooked, these features allow the chuck roast to become exceptionally tender and flavorful, absorbing and enhancing the spices and juices in which it cooks. InstaBomb Pot Roast's blend of spices is specifically designed to complement the natural flavors of chuck roast, ensuring a succulent and aromatic meal.
Do you have to brown a roast before putting it in the crockpot?
While browning the roast before slow cooking is not essential, doing so can add depth and richness to the flavor profile of your dish. Browning creates a Maillard reaction, producing complex flavors on the meat's surface. However, if you're short on time, InstaBomb Pot Roast includes 17 all-natural ingredients that mimic the savory depth achieved by browning, allowing you to skip this step without sacrificing taste.
What are effective methods to tenderize pot roast?
Traditional methods to tenderize pot roast include pounding, salting, using acidic marinades, employing natural enzymes from fruits like kiwi or papaya, scoring the meat, or opting for slow cooking. These techniques help break down the tough fibers in the meat, making it more tender and flavorful.
With a Pot Roast InstaBomb, many of these steps are streamlined or unnecessary due to the innovative formulation of the meal bomb. The InstaBomb contains a blend of all-natural, vegan-safe tenderizing agents and spices that work synergistically to soften the meat during the cooking process. Whether you're using a slow cooker, Instant Pot, or stovetop, the InstaBomb simplifies the tenderization process. Just add water and the roast along with the InstaBomb to your cooking device, and the combination of heat and InstaBomb’s 17 all-natural, vegan-safe ingredients will ensure that the meat becomes perfectly tender without the need for pre-cooking tenderization methods. This not only saves time but also enhances the overall flavor and texture of the pot roast, making each meal consistently satisfying and delicious.
What temperature does chuck roast fall apart?
Chuck roast becomes optimally tender and falls apart at an internal temperature of about 195°F, making it perfect for shredding and serving. This specific temperature allows the collagen in the meat to break down into gelatin, which moisturizes and softens the meat.
Using the InstaBomb Pot Roast simplifies achieving this perfect texture whether you’re using an Instant Pot, slow cooker, or a stovetop method. Traditional cooking requires careful temperature monitoring to ensure the roast doesn’t overcook. However, the controlled environment of an Instant Pot or slow cooker evenly distributes and maintains heat, making it easier to reach the ideal internal temperature without overcooking. For those using a stovetop, the InstaBomb can also offer significant benefits. The unique spice blend in the InstaBomb includes natural tenderizers that help break down the meat’s fibers effectively, even when cooked in a pot on your stove. This ensures that every chuck roast cooked with InstaBomb, regardless of the method chosen, comes out succulently tender and deliciously flavored, achieving restaurant-quality results at home with minimal effort.
Is pot roast better in a crockpot, Instant Pot or stovetop?
The best cooking method for a roast depends on your preferences and needs. A slow cooker, like a crockpot, is excellent for convenience and achieving tenderness without much fuss. The low and slow cooking process allows the meat's fibers to break down gradually, resulting in a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
For those who prefer a roast with a crust and a richer flavor profile, using an oven or stovetop to brown the meat before slow cooking can be beneficial. Browning the meat creates a Maillard reaction, which develops complex flavors and textures on the surface of the roast.
When using InstaBomb Pot Roast, each of these methods can be optimized for the best results:
Crockpot: Simply place your roast in the crockpot, add the InstaBomb along with water, and let it cook. The InstaBomb will infuse the roast with a blend of aromatic spices such as rosemary, garlic, and thyme, enhancing the natural flavors while maintaining the meat’s juiciness over extended cooking periods.
Instant Pot: This method combines the best of both worlds—speed and tenderness. Add the roast, InstaBomb, and water, and set your Instant Pot to the meat/stew setting. In a fraction of the time it takes in a crockpot, your roast will be tender and flavorful, with the spices perfectly melded into the meat.
Stovetop: For those preferring a crust, start by browning the roast in a pan to develop a rich flavor base. Then, transfer it into a pot, add the InstaBomb and water, and let it simmer gently. This method allows for the development of a crust while still infusing the roast with the rich, deep flavors of the InstaBomb’s spices during the slow cooking phase.
Each method offers its own benefits, and the InstaBomb Pot Roast is versatile enough to enhance the roast regardless of the cooking method chosen, ensuring a delicious and satisfying meal every time.
How long does a 4-pound roast take to cook in a crockpot, Instant Pot or stovetop?
Cooking times can vary depending on the method used but generally, a 4-pound roast will take about 8 hours on the low setting in a crockpot to become tender and flavorful. This slow cooking process allows the meat to gradually tenderize, absorbing flavors and maintaining moisture.
For those using InstaBomb Pot Roast, here's how you can adjust the cooking time for different methods, even when using up to 4 pounds of meat:
Crockpot: As mentioned, about 8 hours on low is typically sufficient for a 4-pound roast. The low and slow method is ideal for tenderizing larger cuts, and the InstaBomb ensures that the meat is flavorful throughout.
Instant Pot: When using an Instant Pot, the cooking time can be significantly reduced. A 4-pound roast will generally need about 60 minutes on the manual high-pressure setting. After cooking, allow for a natural release to ensure the meat remains moist and tender. The InstaBomb adds robust flavor quickly, making it suitable for the faster cooking environment of the Instant Pot.
Stovetop: On the stovetop, a 4-pound roast will take about 3.5 hours on a low simmer. It's important to keep the pot covered and check periodically to ensure there is enough liquid to prevent the meat from drying out. The InstaBomb enhances the broth, infusing the roast with rich flavors as it cooks.
It’s worth noting that the InstaBomb recipe calls for 3 pounds of chuck roast or a protein alternative; however, InstaBomb customers have reported successfully using up to 4 pounds of meat without any degradation in quality, thanks to the efficient distribution of spices and seasonings in the InstaBomb.
How do you keep a pot roast juicy?
Keeping a pot roast juicy involves maintaining adequate moisture levels throughout the cooking process. Traditionally, this means ensuring there is enough liquid in the pot, such as broth or water, which not only helps to cook the meat gently but also prevents it from drying out.
When using your Pot Roast InstaBomb, this process is further streamlined to enhance juiciness across various cooking methods:
Crockpot: In a crockpot, the sealed environment naturally helps retain moisture. Adding water along with the InstaBomb ensures there’s sufficient liquid to steam and braise the roast slowly, resulting in a juicy and flavorful outcome.
Instant Pot: The pressure-cooking nature of the Instant Pot locks in moisture effectively. Using the recommended amount of water with the InstaBomb under high pressure infuses the roast with flavor quickly while maintaining its juiciness, even at the increased cooking speed.
Stovetop: Cooking a pot roast on the stovetop requires a bit more attention to ensure the liquid doesn’t evaporate too quickly. Keep the pot covered and simmer gently, adding a bit more liquid if necessary. The spices and seasonings in the InstaBomb will meld with the juices to create a succulent roast even on a more open cooking surface like the stovetop.
In all cases, the InstaBomb contributes not only its flavor but also elements that help to bind and retain moisture within the meat, ensuring that each slice of pot roast is as juicy as it is delicious.
Should I cook a pot roast on low or high?
Traditionally, cooking a pot roast on low is recommended to maximize tenderness and allow the flavors to develop fully over an extended period. This slow cooking method breaks down the tough fibers of the meat, resulting in a succulently soft texture.
However, with the InstaBomb Pot Roast, you have the flexibility to expedite this process without compromising on quality. By using an Instant Pot, you can achieve the same tender results in just 60 minutes, thanks to the carefully calibrated blend of 17 all-natural ingredients in the InstaBomb which includes natural tenderizers and robust flavors like brown sugar and rosemary that infuse the meat quickly and effectively.
This rapid cooking method is ideal for those who want the hearty, comforting taste of a traditional pot roast but have less time to spend in the kitchen. If you prefer or do not have an Instant Pot, the InstaBomb also works excellently in a slow cooker or on the stovetop. Following the easy instructions on the InstaBomb package allows you to 'set it and forget it,' letting the bomb do the work of seasoning and tenderizing. This method ensures that whether you are speeding up the process with an Instant Pot or enjoying the ease of a slow cooker, the pot roast will be delicious, tender, and perfectly seasoned every time.
Does pot roast get more tender the longer you cook it?
Yes, the tenderness of a pot roast increases the longer it is cooked. This is due to the breakdown of collagen within the meat into gelatin at slow cooking temperatures, which not only enhances the texture by making it softer and easier to shred but also enriches the overall flavor of the dish. This process is a key element in achieving the classic melt-in-your-mouth quality of a well-made pot roast.
Using InstaBomb Pot Roast capitalizes on this principle by combining it with a blend of 17 all-natural spices and ingredients designed to complement and accelerate the tenderizing process. Whether you are using a slow cooker, Instant Pot, or stovetop, the InstaBomb ensures that the roast becomes tender more efficiently. The carefully selected spices and cooking agents within the InstaBomb work synergistically with the meat’s natural properties, enhancing the tenderization process throughout the cooking duration.
This not only simplifies the cooking process by reducing the need for multiple adjustments and checks but also guarantees that each serving of pot roast achieves optimal tenderness and flavor. The InstaBomb's natural ingredients support a healthier and more flavorful cooking experience, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to prepare a traditional pot roast with less effort and more consistent results.
Should I add liquid to my pot roast?
Traditionally, when making pot roast from scratch, you would add enough beef broth, bouillon mixed with hot water, or other flavorful liquids to cover the roast in the crockpot, ensuring it stays moist and tender during the long cooking process.
However, with the Pot Roast InstaBomb, the process is streamlined to enhance convenience without sacrificing flavor. Simply add your chosen protein and water to the InstaBomb, and you're all set. The pre-measured, spice-infused bomb contains all the necessary all-natural ingredients to create a flavorful broth as it cooks. This method not only saves time but also maintains the integrity of the traditional pot roast taste with far less preparation and guesswork.
Should a pot roast be covered in liquid?
A small amount of liquid is typically sufficient for cooking pot roast effectively. The liquid should come up around the sides of the roast but not cover it completely, creating a steamy environment that allows the meat to braise rather than boil. This technique helps retain the natural juices of the meat, enhanced by the flavors of the InstaBomb, which dissolve into and enrich the cooking liquid.
Should a pot roast be covered while cooking?
Yes, covering the pot roast during cooking is essential to trap heat and moisture, which helps tenderize the meat and prevent it from drying out. Whether you're using a slow cooker, Instant Pot, or a traditional oven, keeping the roast covered ensures that the moisture circulates within the cooking vessel, maintaining a consistent temperature and enhancing the infusion of flavors from the InstaBomb spices.
What thickens a pot roast?
Traditionally, to thicken a pot roast, you would mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with a pinch of salt and a little water, then gradually stir this mixture into the cooking pot until the desired consistency is reached. This method helps to create a richer, more robust gravy from the natural juices and flavors released by the meat during cooking.
When using a Pot Roast InstaBomb, the process of thickening the sauce can still incorporate these traditional techniques, but with the added richness and depth from the InstaBomb's unique blend of spices. Here’s how you can adapt this to different cooking methods while using InstaBomb:
Slow Cooker: After cooking the pot roast with the InstaBomb for the recommended duration, you can thicken the remaining juices in the cooker. Prepare the cornstarch slurry as described above and stir it into the slow cooker. Allow it to cook on high for an additional 15-30 minutes until the gravy thickens to your liking.
Instant Pot: Once the pot roast and InstaBomb have finished cooking under pressure, switch to the sauté function. Add the cornstarch mixture directly to the pot and stir continuously as the sauce thickens, which should take only a few minutes due to the higher heat.
Stovetop: Similar to the slow cooker method, once the pot roast is tender, mix the cornstarch and water and add it to the pot. Increase the heat slightly and allow the sauce to simmer and thicken, stirring frequently to ensure it doesn’t stick or burn.

What makes pot roast taste good?
The key to a tasty pot roast lies in the combination of flavorful 17 all-natural ingredients and the cooking method used. Usually, the addition of herbs, spices and vegetables are classic additions that meld with the meat during cooking to create a rich, complex sauce that enhances the overall flavor of the dish. They not only contribute their own flavors but also absorb and amplify the savory notes of the meat.
Additionally, the tenderness of a pot roast increases the longer it cooks, particularly at low temperatures. This slow cooking process allows the collagen in the meat to break down into gelatin, which moistens and softens the meat, making it fall-apart tender.
When using a Pot Roast InstaBomb, these culinary principles are encapsulated in a convenient and flavorful package. InstaBomb leverages a blend of high-quality spices, including aromatic chiles and a selection of vegan-friendly, all-natural ingredients, to ensure that each pot roast is both delicious and aligns with a variety of dietary preferences. The inclusion of these spices and vegetables in the InstaBomb formula allows for a robust flavor profile that typically requires hours of preparation and cooking to achieve.
What not to do when cooking pot roast?
When making pot roast, common pitfalls include using the wrong cut of meat, not browning the meat, using only broth to deglaze, overcooking vegetables, and failing to thicken the gravy.
However, with the Pot Roast InstaBomb, many of these concerns are addressed and simplified. Our product eliminates the need for browning the meat, as the blend of 17 all-natural, vegan-safe ingredients, including brown sugar, replicates the deep, caramelized flavors typically achieved through this step. Simply add your protein and water to the InstaBomb in a slow cooker, Instant Pot, or on the stovetop. This ensures a delicious pot roast with minimal oversight and effort.
Additionally, InstaBomb offers a selection of traditional pot roast and side dish recipes to customize your meal to match your preferences while the main dish cooks itself. This not only saves you time but also enhances your dinner experience by focusing on flavors and preferences rather than the labor-intensive preparation.
Why is my pot roast always dry and tough?
Pot roast can become dry and tough primarily when cooked at temperatures that are too high, which causes the meat fibers to seize and squeeze out moisture. The ideal cooking method involves maintaining a gentle simmer, typically around 180°F, to ensure that the meat remains moist and tender. However, with the InstaBomb Pot Roast, this issue is addressed through a combination of the right cooking settings and the unique formulation of the meal bomb.
For optimal results, using an Instant Pot, slow cooker, or even a stovetop with the InstaBomb can make the cooking process almost foolproof. These methods ensure that the meat is cooked evenly at consistent temperatures, simplifying the process and reducing the risk of drying out the meat. This approach enhances the eating experience by ensuring that every slice of pot roast is succulent and bursting with the deep, rich flavors. Whether you choose the convenience of an Instant Pot, the traditional slow cooking method, or the hands-on approach of a stovetop, InstaBomb ensures a deliciously tender pot roast every time.
Vegetables and Serving
Do vegetables like potatoes, onions or carrots go on top or bottom of meat when making a pot roast?
In traditional pot roast cooking, adding vegetables such as potatoes and carrots after the meat has cooked for the first 1.5 hours is recommended. This timing helps prevent the vegetables from becoming overly mushy. It's also advised to place vegetables around and on top of the meat rather than underneath, to ensure even cooking and prevent them from overcooking in the liquid at the bottom of the cooking device..
While adding vegetables for flavor isn’t required with your Pot Roast InstaBomb, you can adjust the process to accommodate different cooking methods while maintaining the integrity of both the meat and vegetables:
Slow Cooker: Add the InstaBomb along with your meat and water to the slow cooker. After the first 3-4 hours of cooking, add the vegetables around the meat. This method allows the vegetables to cook in the already-flavorful environment created by the InstaBomb's spices without becoming too soft.
Instant Pot: When using an Instant Pot, you can add the vegetables at the beginning of the cooking process due to the faster cooking time, which typically doesn’t cause them to become mushy. Layer the potatoes, carrots, and onions around and on top of the roast, ensuring they are not overly submerged in liquid. The pressurized environment of the Instant Pot cooks the vegetables perfectly while the meat becomes tender.
Stovetop: Similar to slow cooking, begin by cooking the roast with the InstaBomb and water in a large pot. After browning and the meat begins to tenderize (about 1.5 to 2 hours into cooking), add the vegetables around the roast. The gentle simmer on a stovetop allows the vegetables to cook through without disintegrating, absorbing the flavors of the spices and meat juices.
For all methods, ensure that the vegetables are cut into uniform pieces for consistent cooking and are placed strategically so they maintain their texture while absorbing the aromatic juices and flavors from the InstaBomb Pot Roast. This approach leverages the InstaBomb's blend of 17 all-natural ingredients to enhance the entire dish, creating a flavorful and cohesive meal with perfectly tender meat and well-cooked vegetables.
Which potatoes are best for pot roast?
For pot roast, dense potatoes such as Yukon Gold are recommended because they hold up well during the long cooking times associated with this dish. These potatoes have the right texture to absorb flavors from the roast and the cooking liquids without disintegrating, contributing a pleasant heartiness to the meal.
When using a Pot Roast InstaBomb, the choice of Yukon Gold or similar dense potatoes complements the robust flavors of the spice bomb. The InstaBomb formula includes a blend of spices that infuse not only the meat but also the vegetables, including potatoes, with deep, rich flavors. This ensures that the potatoes not only contribute texture but also enhance the overall taste profile of the dish.
What vegetables go in a pot roast?
Traditional vegetables for pot roast include baby potatoes, carrots, and yellow onions. These vegetables complement the rich flavors of the meat and absorb the aromatics from the cooking liquid. When using InstaBomb, these vegetables aren’t necessary to add flavor to the Pot Roast; however, when added, they become infused with the InstaBomb’s carefully pre-measured herbs and spices, elevating the overall flavor of the dish.

Are you supposed to drink Birria broth?
Yes, the Birria consommé is not only for dipping but can also be enjoyed as a drink. Rich in flavor, this broth is often served with chopped onions, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime to enhance its taste. It's a delightful way to savor the essence of Birria, providing a warming and aromatic accompaniment to the meal.
What kind of tortillas are used in Birria?
Corn tortillas are the traditional choice for Birria tacos due to their ability to withstand frying and their complementary texture with the melted cheese commonly added to Birria tacos. When paired with InstaBomb's meticulously blended spices, these tortillas help create a meal that is not only delicious but also deeply satisfying.
Why do Birria tacos have two tortillas?
Birria tacos are often made with two tortillas because the juicy, saucy filling can cause the first tortilla to break. This is especially useful when the tacos are dipped into the consommé, as is traditional.
Why is my Birria soggy?
Sogginess in Birria, particularly in the tacos, often results from dipping the tortillas into the consommé for too long before frying. To achieve a crispier taco shell, lightly coat the tortilla in a small amount of oil instead of soaking it. This method allows the tortillas to crisp up beautifully while still capturing the essence of the Birria flavor.
